North Canton Mayor David Held honored the local Character Counts organization with a plaque of appreciation for its work in the schools and the community. Accepting the award were former YMCA Director Paul Beinlich and former School Superintendent Bob Roden, both retired, and Kathy Yaros of the Y.
Character Counts! in North Canton was initiated in 2009, 16 years after the organization was launched nationally.
October will be a month-long celebration of Character Counts. Many activities are planned, Yaros said.
Character Counts is based on six pillars of character β trustworthiness, respect, responsibility, fairness, caring and citizenship.
βIt is our goal to promote good character wherever and whenever we can,β Yaros said.
